You're One Month Old

Wow, this first month has flown by!
I cannot believe how much you have changed.

At your one month pediatrician appointment, you weighed 9 lbs, 4 ounces and were 21 1/4 inches long.

Piper, this is what you have done over the past month.
- You have learned how to breastfeed well and occasionally you will take a bottle.

- After you eat, you love to be held and rocked to sleep.

- You sleep 3 hours between daytime feedings and have gone as long as 4-5 hours between feedings at night.

- You love your swing, watching the mobile until you fall asleep.  You also love your infant seat and your pack in play.

- You sleep in your infant seat in your crib at night, wrapped in your soft ballerina blanket.  Your giraffe plays a white noise sound which helps you fall asleep, and your elephant humidifier blows out a cool mist which helps your nose not be so stuffy.

- You can pretty much fall asleep anywhere, and you sleep well in your car seat and stroller which is great when we want to go out to lunch or run errands.

- Over the past month, you have been to the pediatrician, church, community group, breakfast at Eat in the French Quarter, Whole Foods in the ergo baby carrier, and lunch at Surrey's on Magazine Street for Dadda's 28th birthday.

- You have become more alert, having 2-3 awake times a day (about 10-20 minutes each).  While you're awake, you spend time on your activity mat or in our laps watching us and listening as we sing or talk to you.

- You like to take a bath in your puj tub, as long as the water is nice and warm.  And sometimes you like having your hair brushed.

Piper, we love you so much!  You are such a blessing!  Even when it gets tough, like when we haven't gotten a lot of sleep or when you are a little fussy and decide that you don't want to take a nap, it is such a pleasure to be your parents!  We have loved watching you grow this first month, and are looking forward to all the milestones that we will get to experience in the coming months!

Love,
Momma and Daddas
