Here We Go

Obviously it has been some time since my last blog post, and no, I have not abandoned the blog...I'm still here!  I have just gotten caught up in life.  So much has been going on over the past few months, and I have found myself staying busy with other things.  Now that we are starting to get into a groove, I felt like it was a good time to give an update.

In May, Chris started classes at Georgia Tech to finish his degree in Business Management.  It has been a long 11 weeks...changing classes, getting up early to work in the weight room, making the trek down 400, papers, group projects, meetings, blah, blah, blah!  Finally, this chapter of our lives is coming to an end, and I am so proud to say that he will graduate tomorrow night (Friday) at the Fox Theater.  I am excited to celebrate this incredible achievement with him, and I am excited that Piper will be able to experience it.  I know she's not gonna remember it, but she will be able to look back at pictures and see that she was a part of this amazing moment!

Since last September when Chris was released from the Saints, we have been waiting to see where God was gonna lead us next.  After several months of praying, God gave Chris a clear vision.  The onside kick recovery in Super Bowl 44 wasn't just a one time event.  It is a historic play that will always be remembered, and it is an opportunity for Chris to share his story.  Not just the recovery itself, but also how Chris has lived his life, inspired his dad Mike to give his life over to Christ and recover from alcoholism.  Their father son story is so powerful and something that needs to be shared.  It's a story not only of recovery, but of trust, forgiveness, and how it's never too late for God to work in amazing, unexpected ways.  From this vision, we started Reis Business Group, LLC.  RBG encompasses Chris and Mike's speaking engagements, Mike's life coaching, and their upcoming book Recovery of a Lifetime which will be released at the end of this year.  More information can be found at:

Not only did we start RBG, but we also stared Reis Properties, LLC.  Chris' step-mom Celia is a well known Keller Williams realtor in North Fulton and South Forsyth, and we decided that it was the perfect time to partner with her and help grow the business.  We formed RP and are in the process of building up our team.  As President of the company, Chris is going to get his real estate license and start working with Celia on some listings.  He is also going to do some marketing events to create more brand awareness in the community.  We are excited about this opportunity, and are looking forward to seeing how God can work through this.  If you know someone who is looking to buy or sell their home, please refer them to us.  If they do not live in GA, we would be happy to refer them to one of our many contacts across the nation.  More information can be found at:

So, where do I fit into all of this?

I am currently the CFO of both companies.  My role is handling all the finances and planning all marketing events.  I sit in on all the business meetings and help make decisions with the team.  This is perfect for me because I am able to stay at home with Piper, yet stay involved with all that is going on.  Even with all of this, I recently decided to pursue a job opportunity at North Point Community Church.  My friend Lauren Bray works for NPCC on the Groups Assimilation Team (to simplify, she helps put people into community groups).  A position opened up on her team, and it sounded like something that I would enjoy, so I applied.  I started the interview process and began praying, "God, is this something that you want me to do?".  I have always wanted to be a stay at home mom, but I am open to whatever God wants.  After my first round of interviews, I was still interested, but not quite sure if this was what I was supposed to do.  Last night, Chris and I stayed up late talking and praying.  Before I fell asleep, I felt God saying, "I have called you at this moment to be a wife and a mother, nothing more.".  That reassurance from God was all that I needed.  This morning, I woke up with such peace, knowing that I am right where God wants me to be!  I immediately called Lauren to explain, and she understood completely.  I emailed the women who had interviewed me, thanked them for their time, and shared with them why I would no longer be pursuing the position.  I am so thankful to have peace and a clear understanding of God's will for my life at this moment.

Well, that is where we are as a family right now.  I am sure that God will throw us some curve balls and continue to use opportunities to shape us and mold us to be more like Him.  But, for now I am thankful for where we are, and the path that He has put us on.

Thank you, Lord, for answering prayers!!
