Pregnancy Cravings

Throughout this pregnancy, I have gone through periods where I have craved certain foods.  It started out with red meat and fruit, and that has lasted well into my second trimester.  I still love eating red meat, just not every day...maybe once or twice a week!  And fruit is still a staple!  At the farmers market this past weekend, we bought fresh peaches and blueberries...super sweet and yummy!!  Lately, there have been a few more things that I have craved.

Mid-afternoon I usually start craving something sweet.  I try and grab some fruit, yogurt, or pudding, but sometimes those just don't cut it.

So one afternoon last week, I made whole wheat chocolate chip banana pancakes all for myself!!  I smothered them with pure maple syrup, and ate every bite!!  So scrumptious!!

Besides wanting something sweet, I have been wanting something tart.  And lemonade has hit the spot!!  But not just regular lemonade, I have been adding fresh mint and even some blueberries.  So refreshing, especially since temperatures have been in the upper 90s!

At Publix on Monday, I saw Kashi Honey Sunshine cereal and had to buy it!!  I ate a bowl as soon as I came home.  And then I ate another for snack that night.  Let's just say that box of cereal only lasted until Wednesday!!  It hit the spot, and I will definitely be buying more next week!!

While we were in Arizona visiting Nick and Erin, Erin introduced me to Smucker's Red Raspberry Perserves.  Where have I been?  This little jar of goodness is soooo yummy!  I have been slathering it on my morning bagel ever since.

Actually I had to go and make myself a little treat while I was writing this blog because I started craving the sweet raspberry spread.  And now I am almost out, so I better add it to my grocery list for next week...that's if this jar can last through the weekend!

So even though I'm not craving something crazy like pickles and ice cream, there are definitely certain foods that hit the spot!  Sometimes I try and make substitutions, but nothing can come close to the real thing!!
