The Tarquinios Visit Nola

This past weekend Gavin and Lindsay came to visit.  We haven't seen them since May, and it was so good to catch up after a few months apart.  They flew into Nola on Friday morning.  I picked them up at the airport and dropped them by the house to hang out while I got my haircut.  While I was away they walked up and down Magazine Street in the 90 degree heat, wandering into some of the antique shops.  After my haircut, I picked up the game tickets from Chris and met Gav and Linds at Juan's Flying Burrito for lunch.  We chowed down on some yummy burritos before heading over to Jake and Allie's.  The Tarquinios and the Smiths hadn't seen each other since December, so Gavin and Jake had fun catching up while Lindsay, Allie and I played with Ava-Kate and held Addie.  We left the Smiths and headed home to rest before the game.

The Saints were hosting the 49ers in the opening preseason game.  It was a great crowd and fun seeing Chris play again since his shoulder injury last season.  He started on special teams and played second string free safety.  He had some great blocks and looked really comfortable back on the field!

Chris had Saturday night and Sunday off after the game.  If was so nice for him to be home!  Saturday we had a lazy morning before driving to the French Quarter for lunch.  We wanted to take Gavin and Lindsay to Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, our favorite pizza place in Nola!

Yes, Saturday was purple shirt day!

My wild mushroom pizza with peppers, tomatoes and fresh basil...yum!!

After lunch we walked around the French Quarter a little bit.  We stopped in Nola Kids, a super cute children's boutique, and bought an outfit for our little girl!

I love that she will be a Nola baby!

We started getting really hot and decided to head to Creole Creamery for some yummy ice cream!  After a sweet snack, we headed back home to relax before dinner.

Well the relaxing turned into baby gear set up.  Chris moved the crib mattress up to the height for a newborn and set up the angel care monitor (it monitors the baby and alerts you if she stops breathing).  Then Gavin and Chris set up the video baby monitor and put together the infant seat and swing.

Finally it was time for dinner and La Thai was the restaurant of choice to celebrate Lindsay's 25th Birthday which was on July 16th.  It is an amazing Thai restaurant in Uptown.  We ate so much!  Appetizers were crispy coconut shrimp with sweet chili sauce and dumplings dipped in soy sauce and sriracha.  Chris and Gavin had red curry for their entrees, Lindsay had seared tuna and I had drunken noodles.  All of it was so tasty!  For dessert we had sticky rice with blueberries and mangoes.  It was an incredible meal!!

Chris had to be back at the hotel on Saturday night, so he didn't really get to spend any more time with Gav and Linds.  On Sunday, I took them to our church, Vintage Nola.  Then we picked up lunch at Whole Foods and took it over to Allie and Jake's to hang out for the afternoon.  After getting our fill of cutie little Addie, we came home and relaxed before Lindsay made brinner (breakfast for dinner).  She made yummy frittatas and two types of pancakes.  Brinner is my favorite!

Today was Gavin and Lindsay's last day in Nola.  Lindsay and I took the boys for a walk around the neighborhood, we all showered and then met Rob and Anna Beth Wilton (the pastor of our church) for lunch at Surrey's.  After lunch we grabbed some frozen yogurt and stopped by the hotel so they could say bye to Chris before catching their plane back to Atlanta.

We are so glad that we were able to spend some time with Gavin and Linds!

Thank you guys for coming down to visit us!  We hope to see you again soon!!  Miss you already!
